We are OPEN and serving children and families in your community.
Potential Resource Parents
Resource Parents are NEEDED! Now more than ever!
Due to the stay-at-home orders issued by our government, many children are not being seen. Child Protective Services has seen a huge decrease in the number of referrals. This does not mean that abuse and/or neglect is not occurring. It means that it is not being reported. As stay-at-home orders are lifted and families begin to venture out, especially if/when children return to school, the child welfare community anticipates a surge of CPS calls resulting in many children placed in foster care.
The first step in learning more about becoming a Resource Parent is to attend an Information Session. Children’s Services of Virginia continues to conduct information sessions for potential Resource Parents. In-person information sessions will resume in August and registration is required by emailing our Resource Parent Recruiter, Jennifer Allen, at email@example.com. In lieu of attending an in-person information session, we are available for phone and video call information sessions. Please email to schedule with our Resource Parent Recruiter.
Are you ready to help a child in need? Children’s Services of Virginia is moving forward with approving Resource Families virtually! We are offering a hybrid virtual/in person training for the next few months. In-person training will require health safety measures as recommended by the CDC, Governor, etc. at the time of training.
For more information about becoming a Resource Parent with Children’s Services of Virginia, please contact our Resource Parent Recruiter, Jennifer Allen, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 540-398-7938. You may also complete our information request form here.
Children’s Services of Virginia has several open foster homes available and continues to make placements. If you need to make a referral, please call one of our local office numbers or one of our on-call lines.
